CONSPIRACY NOW: IS DEMOCRACY DEAD?

SEPTEMBER 2022 | SURREY CIVIC THEATRES | SURREY

  • Why be an audience member, when you can be a participant? Part interactive game, part social discussion, part theatrical performance, Conspiracy Now is a workshop that invites you to care and connect. This interactive documentary-style theatre workshop was based on the form developed in Conspiracy’s international hit show Foreign Radical.

The workshop series gets audience members to investigate critical issues in current events and questions the manipulation tactics of social media. In a fun and challenging environment of game play Conspiracy Now: Is Democracy Dead? invites a small audience of up to 30 to examine global movements, like the Farmer Protests in India, to see how and why social media manipulates and separates us. We look to empower participants through interaction that creates empathy between strangers rather than amplify polarization.

Through real-world examples, games and discussions, each participant will have the opportunity to dissect the issues, connect with others, and participate in more nuanced conversations about important issues. At a time when social media tends to create isolated bubbles of knowledge and discussion, and polarized politics seek to deliver fake news or brand even the best investigative reporting as fake, our hope is that Conspiracy Now will foster thoughtful discussions and provide strangers a space to analyze and connect.
